Dorothy Marie Mawhorr

Dorothy Marie Mawhorr, 95, of Mansfield, passed away Sunday morning, March 28, 2021, at Mill Creek Nursing Home in Galion following an extended illness. She was born July 19, 1925, in Richland County, Ohio, to the late Curtis and Marie (Wolford) Pittinger.
She was a member of Oakland Lutheran church where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Altar Guild. Dorothy volunteered many hours at The Good Shepherd Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ashland for 40 years.
Dorothy is survived by three children, Becky (Stephen) Simmons of Powell, OH, Cindy Mawhorr (Bob Tindle) and James (Diane) Mawhorr, both of Mansfield; four grandchildren, Carrie (Jason) Waid of Westerville, OH, Amy (Michael) Volz of Mansfield, Julie (JR) Rathjens of Dublin, OH and Kimberly (Richard) Ison of Brunswick, OH; six great-grandchildren, Matthew Volz, Allison Volz, Leah Ison, Cassidy Ison, Mackenzie Rathjens and Landon Rathjens; two sisters-in-law, Jean Pittinger of Mansfield and Norma Pittinger of Willard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Mawhorr; parents; daughter, Linda Mawhorr; and five siblings, Carlos (Alice) Pittinger, Russell Pittinger, Eldon Pittinger, Mary Naomi (Russell) Whited and Ruth Ann Neer (Les) Griebling.
A private graveside service will be held at Franklin Cemetery, 3775 Franklin Church Rd., with Rev. Paul L. Lintern officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Oakland Lutheran Church, 575 Crall Road East, Mansfield, Ohio 44903. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is honored to serve the family.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Mill Creek Nursing Home for the wonderful and loving care given to Dorothy during her stay.
