Dorothy Marie (Fotsch) Klinkhammer, 92, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Aug. 9, 2023. Private funeral services will be held at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Private Interment will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include her nine favorite children, Gail Munsell, Janis Gibson, Jill Breidenbach, Susan Bright, Lori (Bob) Ledoux, Lisa Stark, Nicholas Klinkhammer, David (Sheri) Klinkhammer and Molly (Steve) Bjornsen; 24 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Wesley (Nancy) Fotsch and Harold Fotsch.

Preceding her in death were her loving husband of 58 years, George; six siblings; and sons-in-law, Bill Munsell and Ron Stark.

Dorothy was born on April 8, 1931, in Farmington, Iowa, the daughter of Paul L. and Agnes R. (Anderson) Fotsch. Although she never reached five feet in height, Dorothy was a proud member of her high school basketball team and their trip to the Iowa State Tournament in 1947. After high school, Dorothy moved to Cedar Rapids for X-ray training and became a certified X-ray technician. While living in Cedar Rapids, she met George Klinkhammer and they were married on May 19, 1951, in Cedar Rapids. Dorothy was a longtime member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. She was a generous supporter of St. Paul’s and also George’s church, All Saints Catholic Church. Dorothy was a lifelong volunteer. Among the many places she gave her time were at St. Paul’s, at All Saints, and with the Girl Scouts and Mercy Hospital Auxiliary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, the Iowa Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, or Kids Against Hunger.
