Doris Viola Horner

Doris Viola Horner, 84, of New Philadelphia, passed away Friday, January 14, 2022 in Union Hospital at Dover.
A daughter of the late John D. and Sarah H. (Smith) Beamer, Doris was born October 3, 1937 at Wainwright, Ohio.
On March 4, 1955, Doris married Charles E. Horner Sr. and they raised two children, Joan and Charles Jr. The couple shared 47 years of marriage prior to Charles’ passing on December 19, 2002.
Doris retired from Howden Buffalo at New Philadelphia in 1999 where she worked in the Inventory Control department. She was a longtime member of Sharon Moravian Church at Tuscarawas.
She loved her family dearly and especially cherished all of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Joan (Paul) Swaney and Charles Horner Jr; her grandchildren, Paul (Emily) Swaney II, Jill Swaney, Carla (Matt) Taylor, Travis (Amber) Horner and Stacy (fiancé, Seth Merriman) Horner Joseph; her great grandchildren, Letty, Chelsey, Trey, Alyssa and Blayde Swaney, Ashlyn and Ean Sanders, Haylee and Logan Workman, Aubree and Austin Joseph and Charlee Horner; a great-great grandchild, Kaype Swaney and two more expected and her siblings, Shirley Smith and Gary (Gwen) Beamer.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and husband along with two grandsons, Brett and Nick Swaney and her siblings, Jane Dummermuth and Donald Beamer.
In keeping with Doris’ wishes, there will be no calling hours or services and cremation will take place through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.
