Marion

Doris Marie Haeussler, 94, of Marion, Iowa, formerly of Ryan, Iowa, passed from this life on Sunday, January 12, 2025, surrounded by family at the Terrace Glen Village, in Marion. A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, where the family will greet friends. A private funeral service for the family will take place with burial at Mt. Clark Cemetery, in Central City, Iowa.

Doris was born on January 26, 1930, in Central City, one of six children to Marvin “Bud” and Harriet (Batchelder) Ramsey. She was a 1948 Graduate of Urbana High School, in Urbana, Iowa, where she was a gifted basketball player. Doris later attended Coe College, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Doris met the love of her life and future husband, William “Bill” Wendell Haeussler Jr. at Danceland Ballroom in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where they both loved to dance. They were united in marriage on May 2, 1953, in Urbana. To this union, three daughters were born: Pamela Jo “Jody”, Jamie Lynn, and Jeanne Ann. Early on in their marriage, Doris and their only child at that time, Jody, joined Bill in France for one year, when he was stationed overseas during his service with the United States Army. After Bill was honorably discharged, he and Doris moved their family to the rural Ryan and Coggon, Iowa, areas, where they enjoyed farming together for many years. Doris helped Bill so much on the farm and even acquired her very own small herd of Black Angus Cattle, that they raised together, and she was very fond of. She made sure to cook countless meals for the hired men and feed them well.

Doris was a former member of the Zion Presbyterian Church in Coggon, where she taught Sunday School for several years and a former member of the Methodist Church in Manchester, Iowa. She is currently a member of the Marion Methodist Church in Marion. During her earlier years, Doris was an active 4-H Leader. She also loved and cared for several dogs throughout her life. Doris enjoyed crocheting and doing needle-point artwork, but most of all, she loved dancing with Bill, and spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 71 years, Bill Haeussler Jr. of Marion; three daughters, Jody (John Mayer) Mohr of Neola, Iowa, Jamie (Larry) Doherty of Alburnett, Iowa, and Jeanne Strand of Cedar Rapids; one granddaughter, Olivia Doherty of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.

Doris was preceded into eternal life by her parents; three brothers, Donald Ramsey (at infancy), John Ramsey and Jim Ramsey; and two sisters, Patsy Shaheen and Barb Ashlock.
