Doris M. Fischer

Doris M. Fischer, of Springfield, Illinois, passed away on March 11, 2022 at River Birch Living. She was born on June 7, 1922 in Bluffs, Illinois. She was the daughter of Ida and Fred Schuessler, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Glen and Wilmer; and sister, Velma.

She graduated from Bluffs Community High School. She was married to Harold Fischer of Watertown, Wisconsin for 48 years. She was married to Harold at St. John’s Lutheran Church on January 22, 1946.

Doris was employed by the Illinois State Police and retired after 36 years of service, but continued to volunteer for the State Police for another 20 years.

Doris was a member of Phi Beta Psi Sorority for 28 years and was active in RSPA, NARFE and AARP.

She is survived by two nephews, two nieces and several grand-nephews and grand-nieces.

Doris will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery next to her husband, Harold. At her request, there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Peace Lutheran Church of Springfield, Illinois or the Animal Protective League of Springfield, Illinois.
