Doris Kruckenberg, 90, of Lowden, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at the Clarence Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden on Saturday May 27, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Daniel Redhage officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, May 26, from 4 to 7 p.m., also at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
Doris was born Oct. 23, 1932, in Lowden, Iowa, to Arthur and Clara (Bunge) Kroemer. She married Delbert Kruckenberg on June 7, 1958, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden.
Survivors include her husband Del; children Michael (Tracey) of Central City, Wis., Craig (Jill) of Warrenville, Ill., Anita Kruckenberg of Lowden and Jennifer (Pat) Zmolek of Jefferson, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Leonard (Joanne) Kroemer of Clarence; and sister, Elaine Kroemer of Robbinsdale, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Branden.
Doris loved the 4 F’s: Faith, Family, Food, and Farkle! She was the queen of games and loved to play them with her family. She won often. She loved singing in the choir having belonged 60-plus years, hanging out in the alto section. Doris was also a lover of music, birds, and flowers. She could often be found weeding her flower beds or feeding her bird friends. Everybody knew cardinals were her favorite.
Doris was active in Ladies Aid, choir, Amvets Auxiliary, Historical Society, Sunday School, and was the first woman councilperson. Christmas was Doris’ favorite holiday!
