Donna J. Carlson

Donna J. Carlson, 92, of Waterman, IL passed away January 5, 2022 at in DeKalb, IL.  Born May 30, 1929 in Waterman, IL the daughter of Floyd and Helen (Leifheit) Kopfer.

Donna was united in marriage October 25, 1947 to Harold Rompf until his passing February 23, 1988.  She then married LeRoy Carlson December 28, 1996. Donna was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hinckley, IL. She loved spending time surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and felt extremely lucky to have been able to live her whole life on the farm.  She was also an avid gardener, talented baker and international traveler.

She is survived by her husband, LeRoy Carlson of DeKalb, IL; her daughter, Peggy Erwin of Belvidere, IL; her sons, Dan (Brenda) Rompf of Big Rock, IL, and David (JoAnne) Rompf of Waterman, IL; her Stepdaughters, Mona (Rod Fabrizius) Carlson of Maple Park, IL and Kelli Hickrod of Carpentersville, IL; thirteen grandchildren and her thirteen great-grandchildren; as well as three nieces and a nephew.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Helen Kopfer; her first husband, Harold Rompf; her sister and brother-in-law, Charlene and William Blackman.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 10, 2022 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 12760 Lee Road, Hinckley, IL with Rev. Cory Marth officiating. Interment will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Hinckley, IL. (The family requests masks be worn.)

A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at the Nash-Nelson Funeral Home, 1001 E. Garfield St., Waterman, IL.  (The family requests masks be worn.)
