Donald W. Hale, 73, of Springfield died at 11:17 a.m. on Monday, February 7, 2022 at Springfield Memorial Hospital.
Don was born on November 9, 1948 to Howard and Helen Sadler Hale. He married Barbara Ann Burnett on October 15, 1968.
He graduated from Waverly High School in 1966 and attended SIUC. He served with the 101st Airborne in Vietnam from 1968 – 1969. He worked for Franklin Life Insurance Company briefly before working for Horace Mann Insurance Company for over 30 years. He and his wife owned Event Management Professionals, Inc. from 1999 to 2018.
He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Michael of the Virgin Islands; daughter, Kristen Hale Ball of Williamsville; granddaughter, Samantha (Brandon) Morrison; grandsons, Zach and Luke Ball; and two great-grandchildren; siblings, Larry (Barbara J) Hale; Gary (Peggy) Hale; Pam (Bob) Robinson; Jim (Angie) Hale.
Visitation and service: Family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. with service immediately following, on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Cotton Hill UMC, 5931 N. Cotton Hill Rd., Springfield. COVID protocol will be followed.
Cremation will be provided by Staab Funeral Home. Per Don’s wishes, his ashes will be spread in the Caribbean waters of the Virgin Islands.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cotton Hill UMC, Mission projects or American Legion Post 262 Building Fund, c/o Waverly Journal, P.O. Box 78, Waverly, IL 62692.
