Don went to his eternal rest on April 30, 2024. Visitation for Don was held at the Fry Funeral Home in Tipton, IA on Friday May 3 from 4-7 PM. A funeral service was held on May 4 at 1 PM at the Fry Funeral Home in which all friends and family were welcome. The family requested that no flowers be sent and that any desired donations be made on behalf of Don and directed to the Cedar Manor Nursing Home, Tipton, IA.

Don passed away peacefully at the Cedar Manor Nursing Home in Tipton, IA with a family member by his side. Don was born March 29, 1935 on a farm NW of Earling, IA to Perley and Loretta (Albers) Rosenow. The family moved to a farm east of Persia, IA where he attended Country School until his family moved to Tennant, IA in 1943. Don graduated from Tennant High School in 1953. He worked for farmers during his high school years and his favorite sport was Basketball. He was selected for the All-County Basketball Team as a Sophomore and was offered a Basketball Scholarship to Simpson College upon his High School Graduation. He was also honored by one of his fellow Tennant Alumni to have been selected as one of the top all-time 5 best Basketball Players to have played for the Tennant High School.

In the fall of 1953 Don went to work for the City of Harlan, IA as a meter reader. In 1954 he became a water plant operator for the City of Harlan. He was united in marriage with Lois Gau December 7, 1956. On July 1, 1958 he began to work for the City of Tipton, IA as both a meter reader and apprentice lineman. In May of 1966 he became the Electrical Superintendent for the City of Tipton and retired from this job on October 1, 1994 after spending 41 years in public service.

Upon retirement Don enjoyed Farming on his Farm SW of Tipton and raising black angus cattle. He retired from this Operation at the age of 85. He enjoyed Family, Farming, Fishing, Hunting, and Vacationing in Tuscon, Arizona during the Winter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Kenneth Rosenow and his wife Mildred, his sister Marjorie Kramer and her husband Robert.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years Lois, one son Craig Rosenow of Bourbonnais, IL; two daughters Cindy (Kevin) Licht of Tipton, IA; and Carol Rosenow of Omaha, NE. He also has three Grandsons, Dr. Andrew (Mandy) Rosenow, Erick Licht, Michael Rosenow and two Grandaughters Sarah Licht, Dr. Melissa (Stefanos) Delioglou and one Great-Grandson (Gavin) and one Great-Granddaughter (Deborah).
