Donald Ralph Sampson

Donald Ralph Sampson, 83, of Plano, passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2022, at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL. He was born on May 26, 1938, the son of Ralph and Irene Sampson.
Don was united in marriage to Martha Johnson on April 6, 1986, and they spent the next 33 years happily together until her death. Mr. Sampson was a member of First Lutheran Church of Plano. Don and Martha often volunteered at the Sandwich Fair and called Bingo at the Legion in Plano. Mr. Sampson was employed by All Steel in Aurora in his younger years and later in life became a roofer for over 20 years in the Kendall County area. Don was a member of the Yorkville Jaycees and bowled for many years in various leagues around Plano. He enjoyed watching the Bears and Broncos on TV and was a diehard St. Louis Cardinals fan who even saw some World Series games in the 60’s!
Don is survived by his brother Curt (Kathlene) Sampson of Aurora, sister Dolores (Bob) Davidson of Plano, Jennie Mulvey of Yorkville, the mother of his children, son’s Scott A. (Nicki) Sampson of Kingston Springs, TN, and Bruce Sampson of Yorkville, stepchildren Kathy (Bud) Kieninger of Leesburg, VA, William (Elaine) Johnson of Mesa, AZ and Jacqueline Johnson of Maple Valley, WA; ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and other nieces and nephews.
Mr. Sampson was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Irene Sampson, his wife, Martha Sampson, and his brother-in-law Waverly Schuning. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 11:00 am at the First Lutheran Church, 200 N. Center St., Plano, IL.
