Donald J. Wehling, age 86, was born June 26, 1934 and born into eternal life June 25, 2021. Loving husband of 64 years to Mary (nee Lambrecht). Beloved father of Virginia (Glenn) Stangeland, Lynne Wehling-Fester (Dale Fester), Donna (Tom) Pannke, Andrew, Barbara (Frank) Lowery, Stephen (Diana Bedoya), and the late Kevin. Cherished grandfather of Nicholas, Scott (Melinda), Tyler (Amanda), Veronica, Zachary Stangeland, Rayven, Kevin Wehling, Ken, Kurt Fester, Michael, Sean Pannke, Julie Hoben, Colleen, Francis, Margaret Lowery, and the late Mary Lynne and Terri Ann Fester, and Jason Stangeland. Adoring great-grandfather of 9 soon to be 10. Fond brother to Patricia Medley and the late Edwin Wehling. Don was ordained a permanent Deacon on April 25, 1987. He was an employee of Alexander and Alexander for 30 plus years. Don was a hospital chaplain at Holy Family Health Center, Holy Family Hospital, Condell Medical Center, St. Francis Hospital, and chaplain for the St. Jude Society. He was also a proud 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to Unity Hospice, 4101 Main Street, Skokie IL 60076, who took wonderful care of Don for the past 15 months. Visitation Thursday July 1st from 3-8 PM at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home 6150 N. Cicero Ave. Chicago, and then lying-in-state Friday July 2nd from 9:30-12:30 PM at St. Hilary Church at St. Padre Pio Parish 5601 N. California Ave. Chicago, followed by mass at 1 PM.
