Donald Henry Paul, born on May 20, 1933, peacefully passed away on Oct. 17, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. He was the son of Henry Cecil Paul and Irene Schacht. Don’s journey began in the Cedar County area, where he spent his youth, eventually venturing into farming alongside his stepfather, Clarence Williams. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy, a testament to his dedication to his country.

Throughout his life, Don took on various roles, including operating the Springdale gas station and the Rochester Tavern. He later retired as the Plant Manager of The University of Iowa Power Plant, marking a successful and industrious career.

On Nov. 17, 1951, Don was united in marriage to his beloved Anna Marie Budreau, and together they nurtured a family of five sons: Don, John, Mike, Kim, and Brett.

In his leisure time, Don had a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures of life. He relished moments of fishing, camping, playing cards, and immersing himself in the beauty of nature.

Don leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy that will endure through those he held dear. He is survived by his brothers, Dave Williams, Dale Williams, and Clarence Williams; sisters, Joanne Perkins and Joyce Treadwell; sons, Don (Rose) Paul of Radcliffe, Iowa, Mike (Barb) Paul of West Branch, Iowa, John (Connie) Paul of Tipton, Iowa, and Kim (Bobby) Paul of Iowa city, Iowa. His spirit lives on through his 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Don was preceded in death by his son Brett, his beloved wife Ann, and his parents, Henry Cecil Paul, Irene Schacht, and stepfather Clarence Williams.

Services to celebrate the life of Donald Henry Paul will be held in his honor. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, and his legacy will forever be cherished. Private family services will be held on Friday, Oct. 20, at Fry Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will follow in Rochester Cemetery.
