Donald Floyd Evens went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 10, 2023, in Hiawatha, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd and his mother, Rose. He was born in Vinton, Iowa on Nov. 27, 1958, and lived primarily in Illinois and Iowa for most of his life. In addition to his passion for farming and trucking, he was dedicated to helping others early in life by being a firefighter and EMT, and later in life by volunteering to counsel people at Hope Community Development Association, Retrograde Ministries and in his church community that needed a kind ear. Don loved listening to and singing country music and Alan Jackson was at the top of his list.

Don is survived by his three daughters, Amber Call (Michael), Trisha Bergold (Jason) and Donna Hines (Travis); and his siblings, Tony (Karen) and Tammie Evens. He was also a proud grandfather and uncle to John, Travis, Rose, Gabrielle, Amelia, Alexandria, Azariah, Aspen and Eli.

Cremation services are being handled by Murdoch Funeral Homes.

Services will be held on Saturday, April 15, at the west entrance of Faith Bible Church located at 1800 46th St. NE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, from 9 to 11 a.m., with a formal service first followed by fellowship with family.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established. Checks can be made to the Don Evens Memorial Fund and sent to Exchange State Bank at P.O. Box 39, Springville, IA 52336.
