Dolores Victor Perez, 88, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2022, at UnityPoint-St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Monday, Oct. 31, 2022. A funeral service will be held at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2022, and will begin at 11 a.m.
Victor was born on March 23, 1934, to Augustine and Josefina (Castillo) Perez in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. After high school, he proudly enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corp and served during the Korean War. He married Cecelia Akers on Sept. 17, 1960, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Together they had two children. He worked for National Oats and gave 38 years of service before his retirement in 1995.
He enjoyed spending time outside, wood working, bowling, playing softball, going to the casino, and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes. He loved the Marine Corps, but most importantly, he loved his family and cherished the time spent with them.
Victor is survived by his loving wife, Cecelia Perez; children, Charlene (Bill), and Victor (Patti); grandchildren, Justin (Morgan), Carissa, Callie (Triston) and Maranda; great-grandchildren, Pearl, Eleanor and Hazel; siblings, Frank Perez, Paul (Christine) Perez and Augustine II (Carol) Perez.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandmother, Soledad Jimenz; siblings, Lorenzo Perez and Mary Zinnecker; and sister-in-law, Lenora Perez.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family and will be given to a charity in Victor’s name.
