Cedar Rapids
Diane Marie Montgomery, 77, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, Sept. 11, 2022, surrounded by family at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice house.
Diane was born June 14, 1945, to Kenneth and Mary (Kadlec) May in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1963. Diane married John Montgomery Nov. 1, 1964, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Together they had two children, Jodi and Scott. While the kids were young, Diane worked part-time in the cafeteria at Erskine Elementary School. As the kids became more independent Diane worked full-time for Linn County at Friend of the Court. She then transitioned to a role at Linn County Property Taxes where she completed her career and retired.
Diane was a kind and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved her family and friends unconditionally. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. Diane had a great sense of humor, an honest, sincere manner and people always knew where they stood with her. She had a contagious smile and laugh that would brighten a room. All that knew and interacted with her loved her.
Diane is survived by her loving daughter, Jodi Dlouhy of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Jordan Fennelly (Pete) of Whitefish, Mont., Blakeley Dlouhy, Cameron Dlouhy and Campbell Dlouhy, all of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and many dear, long-time friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; and her son, Scott Montgomery.
