Dennis F. “Denny” Dalecky, 74, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died November 3, 2024, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids, with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Denny was born on March 17, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Joseph & Libby (Machacek) Dalecky. He graduated with the Class of 1968 from Jefferson High School and went on to earn his degree from Kirkwood Community College in 1970. Denny enlisted in the United States Navy in 1970, proudly serving during Vietnam. On December 12, 1980, Denny married Donna Gainor. He worked for Sealed Air Cryovac in Cedar Rapids. As an electronics technician, he dedicated 34 years to the company until the plant’s closure in 2009, when he retired. Denny enjoyed fishing with his grandsons and brother, watching NASCAR, and Iowa Hawkeye football.
Denny is survived by his wife of nearly 44 years, Donna Dalecky of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Abbie (Roy) DeWitt of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Drew (Hannah), Alex, Gavin, and Levi; one great-grandson; Tracey DeWitt; his brother, Gary Dalecky of Cedar Rapids; sisters-in-law, Penny (Brian) Cook of Atkins, Iowa, and Debbie Gates (Ray); eight nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and -nephews; and cousins.
Denny was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph & Libby Dalecky; sister-in-law and her husband, Peggy & Jerry James; and a nephew, Matt Gates.
