- December 21, 2022
Delores A. Freetage, 85, of Wadsworth and formerly of Dover, passed away peacefully at The Inn at CoalRidge at Wadsworth on December 18, 2022 following a brief illness.
Born March 28, 1937 in Bucks Township, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Irene (Stein) Kutcher.
After graduating from Baltic High School, she became the loving wife to the late Eddie Freetage on October 24, 1959.
Delores was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed her membership and volunteer time with the Dover Band Boosters while her two children, Denise and Darren, were members of the Dover Marching Band. After her children graduated, she continued her support of the Dover band throughout her life. Additionally, when she was blessed with the title of grandma, she continued that same loyalty and affection with her granddaughter, Amber.
Delores provided childcare to area families for several years and was an active member of St John’s United Church of Christ in Dover.
Delores’ children fondly recall her love for the Cleveland Browns, watching countless hours of the Bold and the Beautiful, Hallmark movies, and the Lawrence Welk Show, and baking many delicious treats. Many beautiful memories were created when they traveled together, especially exploring historical museums and battlefields. Delores also loved tending to the roses in her garden and making Christmas candy.
She will be deeply missed by her children including Denise (Michael) Diaz of Buda, Texas and Darren (Ben Murphy) Freetage of Wadsworth; her granddaughter, Amber Nicole Diaz of Las Cruces, New Mexico; her sisters, Florence (Earl) Stovall of Idaho and Mary Ann (Doug) Blair of Pearl, Ohio; her granddog, Buddy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Delores was preceded in passing by her sister, Dora Oldfield.
Pastor Dotty Hartzell will lead a service celebrating Delores’ life in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover, 5600 N. Wooster Ave., on Friday beginning at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Dover Burial Park.
Memorial contributions in Delores’ memory may be directed to St. John’s United Church of Christ, 409 N Wooster Ave., Dover, OH 44622.
