David R. Woodcock

David R. Woodcock, age 69 of Aurora, IL passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Amita Health Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, IL. He was born on January 1, 1952 in Aurora, IL the son of Richard Thayer and Caryl C. (Schmahl) Woodcock.
David’s family moved from Aurora to Willowbrook subdivision in Bristol, IL when David was in the second grade. He had a happy childhood, growing up by the Blackberry Creek where he fished and camped and in the winter he skated and played hockey with his friends.
David attended Bristol grade school and Yorkville Junior High and High school, graduating with the class of 1971. During high school and after graduation, he worked for a few years at the Yorkville “Y” Mart, where he eventually became the general manager.
In 1978 David began his career in sales with Marshall & Huschart Machinery Company in Broadview, IL, selling industrial machine tools. David worked for several companies over the years, selling machinery until he realized his dream of owning his own company in 2005. Since then he has been President and Owner of Quality Machinery Systems in Naperville, IL.
David was united in marriage on August 2, 1975 to Nancy Clucas and they were happily married for the next 45 years. Mr. Woodcock was a longtime and active member of Calvary Church in Naperville, IL. Mr. Woodcock was a member of the Kendall Masonic Lodge #471 for many years. David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. David held his family, friends, customers and business associates in the highest regard, but first and foremost was his love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
David is survived by his wife Nancy Woodcock of Aurora, IL; his son, Matthew (Leah) Woodcock of Montgomery, IL; his grandchildren, Walter, Elizabeth, Samantha and Josephine Woodcock, all of Montgomery, IL; his siblings, Thomas Thayer (Marcia) Woodcock of Smyrna, TN, Janice C. (Mike) Florian of Plano, IL, and Joyce K. (Jeff) Kayman of Sycamore, IL; also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Caryl Woodcock; a sister-in-law, Patricia Woodcock and a great-nephew, Conner T. Woodcock.
The funeral will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 24, 2021 in the Chapel at Calvary Church, 9s200 Illinois Rt. 59 in Naperville, IL. The funeral attendance is limited to 85 people. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Bristol, IL.
Friends may visit from 4 till 7 p.m. on Friday, April 23, 2021 at the Nelson Funeral Home in Yorkville.
