David P. Schultz, 61, of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics on Thursday, Oct 19. David suffered a stroke on Oct. 4, and died of complications. He was transferred to the Iowa Cremation Society and a celebration event was held Sunday by family and friends. No further services are planned at this time.

David was born Nov. 7, 1961, to Harold and Doris Schultz in Cedar Rapids. He lived the majority of his life in Cedar Rapids but spent a few years in the suburban Chicago area and in Fort Worth, Texas. David attended Jefferson High School and served in the U.S. Army. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan and especially enjoyed meeting with friends on Sunday afternoons to watch them play. Uncle Dave (as he was known by many), was known for his joyful personality and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

David is survived by brothers, Jim (Margret) of Granbury, Texas, and Mark of Mount Vernon; and sister Christine (Larry) of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by nephew, Jonathan (Jessica) Schultz of Bedford, Texas; and nieces, Jamie (Victor) Sagastume of Hiawatha, Amber Schultz of Coralville and Annah Schultz of Mount Vernon; and six great-nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Brenda.
