David Giebler, 71, of Hiawatha, Iowa, died Friday, June 21, 2024, at his home. A memorial service will be held in Kansas at a later date. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, assisted the family.

David was born August 12, 1952, in Hays, Kansas, the son of Celestine “Celly” and Mary (Kroner) Giebler. He graduated in 1970 from Hays High School in Hays, Kansas. David then attended the Central Institute of Technology School in Kansas City, Missouri. In October 1977, he was united in marriage to Colleen Rae Ferguson. David retired from Rockwell Collins after 33 years as an electrical technician.

David enjoyed his cats and was an active volunteer of the Iowa Humane Alliance. He enjoyed tinkering with his hot rod cars and even raced them in his younger years.

Survivors include his stepchildren, Anne Andrews (Bill Fleischer) of Alexandria, Virginia and Scott (Joy) Andrews of Huxley, Iowa; six grandchildren; siblings, Larry Giebler of Victoria, Kansas, Rick (Marilyn) Giebler, and Shirley (Earl) Brungardt, all of Hays, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Celly and Mary Giebler; and wife, Colleen Giebler in 2010.
