David C. Montgomery

David C. Montgomery, 75, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. David was born October 17, 1945 to Ossie and Mae (Ratliff) Montgomery in Pike County, Ohio. Dave was a veteran of the United States Navy as an aircraft mechanic. He was formerly employed at Westinghouse and retired from Gerstenslager of Wooster. He was affiliated with Sunnydale Open Bible Church where he played on several softball teams. Dave was a quiet man with a loving heart who saw the best in everyone. A family man, Dave enjoyed family get togethers for game nights, corn roasts, camping, and trips to the Casinos.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Hinton) Montgomery; his daughters, Donna (Brian) Wilson, Alison (Bill) Baumberger, Andrea Montgomery, and Susan Olar; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren with another on the way; his step children, Ted, Laura, and Travis; three step grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren; his sisters, Jean Haddox, Kathy (Woody) Myers and Linda Montgomery; his brothers, Mike and Mark Montgomery; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Rodnie and Charles Montgomery.
The Montgomery family will welcome friends from 4:00-7:00 pm on Monday, June 28, 2021 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street. Military honors will be performed by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Squad at 5:00 pm. Dave will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park at a later date.
