David Anthony Geppert, 68, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, Oct. 30, 2022, at the Hospice House of Hiawatha. Graveside memorial service: 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4, 2022, at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
David is survived by two daughters, Teresa Geppert, Angela (Gerald Jr.) Bower, both of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, Mikayla Geppert, Ryan Mudd; three brothers, Steve Geppert, Mike Geppert, John Geppert; mother of his daughters, Monica Ryan; and sponsor, very close friend, Chuck Barta.
David, was born April 6, 1954, in Omaha, Neb., the son of Lawrence and Mary Jo Geppert. Dave grew up in Omaha and Lincoln. He worked as a General Manager for Montgomery Wards. David’s management position took him and his family to Minneapolis, Minn., Green Bay, Wis., and lastly, Cedar Rapids. David was blessed with two daughters, Teresa and Angela. He loved to watch football and was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and Nebraska Cornhuskers fan. David was very committed to the achievement of sobriety. Alcoholics Anonymous and his sponsor were paramount figures in the final years of his life. David had celebrated 14 years of sobriety.
David was preceded in death by his parents.
David’s family would like to give heartfelt thanks to the Hospice House in Hiawatha for all of the outstanding care and attention.
