David A. Wehril
- September 30, 2023
David A. Wehrli, age 65, of Yorkville, IL passed away unexpectedly Thursday September 28, 2023. Born on November 1, 1957 in Aurora, IL to Andrew and Audra (Herbert) Wehrli.
Dave was the middle of 7 children, growing up in Green Acres, Naperville, IL. After graduating from Naperville Central High School, he earned his Bachelors of Business from Western Illinois University in 1981. He used his degree at Dukane Precast in Aurora for over 20 years and as a small business owner with his brother.
He was wed on December 3, 1983 to his best friend & high school sweetheart, Catherine (Schmid) Wehrli, and they spent the next 39 years happily married.
Dave and Cathy were proud parents of Michael & Daniel Wehrli. Dave helped shape his two sons formative years enjoying golf, camping, fishing, coaching their little league baseball teams, playing all time quarterback for the two boys to compete and referee for the boys 1-on-1 basketball games in the driveway.
Dave was the proud grandpa of Clara, Andrew and Wren Wehrli. Undoubtedly, grandpa always found a way to impart a smile on their faces. When grandpa was around, it was time to play, sneak snacks, and generally make mischief.
Dave had a life changing accident in 1992, suffering a traumatic head injury. Against all odds and expectations from medical professionals; with the support of his wife, family, friends and doctors, Dave made as full of a recovery as one could hope. This was a theme of his life, overcoming the impossible with his determination, positive attitude and a calm demeanor throughout every moment of his life. No matter what life brought, Dave was poised with an openness and smile that comforted all.
Dave is survived by his wife, Catherine Wehrli of Yorkville, IL; his sons, Michael (Casey) Wehrli of Cary, IL and Daniel (Lacey) Wehrli of Plano, IL; his grandchildren, Clara, Andrew and Wren Wehrli; his siblings, Lynn (Paul) Mathis of NM, Jeff (Barb) Wehrli of Oswego, IL, Frank Wehrli of MT, Ken (Karen) Wehrli of Naperville, IL, Andy (Kelly) Wehrli of Oswego, IL and Patti Finnegan of IA; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Audra Wehrli; and his sister-in-law, Jan Wehrli.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM, on Friday, October 6, 2023 at the Nelson Funeral Homes, 1617 North Bridge Street, Yorkville, IL.
