Darlene Green

Darlene Green was born in Cleveland, Ohio on a Monday, December 27, 1948 to the union of the late William and Ruth Green. Darlene Green received her invitation from The Lord Thursday, February 3, 2022.

Darlene accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and rededicated her life to Christ when she joined Mt. Haven, and has been a faithful member ever since. Darlene attended Cleveland Public Schools and graduated as a scholar from John Adams High School in 1967. Soon after graduation, Darlene’s best friend Katherine, introduced her to her long time love, Johnny Gresham. Together they share two beautiful daughters, Melleesa and Tiffaney.

Darlene started her long-term career with the United States Postal Service in 1969. Darlene started at the Post Office downtown which they considered to be the old building, and went on to work at Shaker, Jesse Owens, and Station B. She was a beloved clerk for all of her colleagues and customers. She was such a dedicated clerk that she went on to become a Union Stewart Representative to keep all things fair and running smoothly at the post office. Darlene established such long lasting, meaningful friendships at the post office that most of the time being there didn’t feel like work, but a second home. These cherished friendships made it easy for her to serve 35 years where she retired in 2004, but the strong bonds of friendship remained until the day she passed.

Darlene loved a lot of things in her life. Our earliest memory of our mother having fun was hand dancing with Uncle Doug. Darlene always enjoyed celebrating birthdays with coworkers and parties after work when she worked third shift aka daylight parties. Darlene also love to throw parties and play cards at our house. Darlene fell in love with bowling where she went on annual bowling tournament trips with her sister Margaret, her cousin Michelle, and often her daughter Tiffaney and tagalong friend Dawn. She also loved organizing trips with family and friends to Belterra and Windsor. Darlene was an avid reader and enjoy hosting book club with her honorary sister Linda Cunningham. Darlene never missed a chance to hang out with her friends to reconnect. Our mother was also very generous, allowing our home to be the hangout spot for all of our friends. Our mother loved her some 3356 M L King Jr Dr using it to be of service to host anyone who needed a place to stay . Our mother’s heart was BIG like that. Darlene‘s greatest joy was spending time with her family, rather it was picking up her grandchildren from school, celebrating a birthday, graduation, traveling with her mother, or having long talks just to make sure everyone was doing OK. This went for her daughters, to her nephews, to her grandkids, to her great nieces and nephews.

Darlene’s beloved ones who preceded her in death are: parents William and Ruth Green, sister Margaret Anglen-Biles, and honorary sister Linda Cunningham.
