Dale Walker, 85, of Anamosa, died Saturday, March 18, 2023, at the Anamosa Care Center.

His Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at 10 a.m. at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa. Pastors Jim and Kris May will officiate. Burial will in Norwich Cemetery, rural Martelle. A luncheon will be held at a later date. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at the funeral home. Dale LeRoy Walker was born Sept. 2, 1937, in Anamosa, the son of Roy and Bessie (Newhart) Walker. He attended Anamosa Schools and was a member of the Anamosa High School Class of 1955. On Nov. 5, 1965, he married Judy Warthen at the Anamosa United Methodist Church. He was employed as a machinist at Iowa Manufacturing, which later became Terex, in Cedar Rapids, He retired in September of 1999 after 35 years of service.

Dale was a lifetime resident of the Fairview – Anamosa area. He was a member of the Broken Bit Saddle Club and the Iowa High School Rodeo Association, to which he always volunteered many hours, helping in any way needed. He loved to spend time with his friends and especially his family.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy; his children Randy (Cindy) Warthen, Covington, Ga., Sherry (Mel) Wadsworth, Anamosa, and Kristy (Lance) Shelton, Spring Grove, Ill.; his grandchildren Chisolm, Cassie, and Remington Warthen, Beau (Nicki) Ludley, Kristie (Dylan) Dircks, Chance (Kayla), Tegan, and Byrce Shelton; a great-granddaughter, Finley Dircks; brothers-in-law and sisters-in law, Dewayne (Pam) Warthen, Jean (Slim) Schlemmer, Allan Warthen, Janet (Dick) Lynott, Janice (Bob) Richmond, and Jerrie Osterkamp; as well as by several nieces and nephews.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law Ronald and Ernie; and sisters-in-law Joy Merfeld, Joyce Warthen, and Joann Warthen.
