D. Marlene Saner, 88, of Springfield, formerly of Divernon, died on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at her home. She was born October 14, 1932 in Sangamon County, to John and Lora Lovel Patterson. She married Richard “Dick” Saner on October 24, 1980 and he preceded her in death in 2002.
Survivors include one daughter, Melissa (John) Shoup of Springfield; two step-daughters, Susan (Dave) Hampton and Julia Graves both of Springfield; one stepson, David (Teresa) Saner of Springfield; four grandchildren, Kasey Shoup of Riverton, Jonathon Shoup of Springfield and Jesse Wright and Myah Wright both of Neoga; one great grandchild, Daisy Sutton; one brother, Larry (Terri) Patterson of Ava, MO; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Christie Wright; one brother, James Patterson; one sister, Reta Smith; and one step-son-in-law, Robert Graves.
Marlene attended Divernon High School and was a secretary at Fayart and Son Insurance Company for many years. She loved flowers and enjoyed tending her garden.
Graveside Service: 3 pm, Friday, March 19, 2021 at Oak Ridge Cemetery with Pastor Darrin Thurman officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League.
