Craig Cannon, 63, of Rowley, IA died on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at his home in Rowley, IA.
Craig was born on November 30, 1961, in Independence, IA, the son of John and Betty (Johnston) Cannon. He grew up in rural Rowley, IA and made many memories doing everything he could with his family and friends.
In 1980, he graduated from East Buchanan High School, and later went on to receive an Associates Degree in Agricultural Mechanics from Hawkeye Technical College in Waterloo, IA. Craig was always mechanically inclined from a very early age and loved fixing machines. In his early teens he began working at his parents’ John Deere dealership, Cannon Equipment Corp. in Rowley, IA. Ultimately, he became the service manager and a shareholder in the company. After the sale of Cannon Equipment Corp. in 1996, he started a new career at John Deere in Waterloo, IA. He held several positions at John Deere including training specialist, CNC operator, and traveled the world trouble shooting issues crucial to maintaining product quality and addressing customer concerns. He had just recently retired from John Deere in the spring of 2023.
On August 20,1983, Craig married Joanie Kafer in Rowley, IA. Together they had a daughter, Kate, and were later divorced in 2003.
Craig married Fayla Rasmussen on December 22, 2007, in Independence, IA. Craig was a great husband, father, uncle and friend. His sense of humor was contagious. Craig was always the center of attention in settings with family and friends. He liked to stay in touch and would reach out to make sure everyone was doing ok. He would do anything for anyone. Craig would take the time to be present, listen and be a good friend. He will be missed and is loved by many.
He is survived by his wife, Fayla Cannon, Rowley, IA, a daughter, Kate (Bryan) Iehl, West Des Moines, IA, two step sons, Max Miller, West Des Moines, IA, and Scott Miller, Cedar Falls, IA, a granddaughter, Kaylee Iehl, a brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Jenny Cannon, Paradise Valley, AZ, nieces and nephews, aunts, cousins, in-laws and many friends.
Craig is preceded in death by his parents, John and Betty Cannon, his grandparents Francis and Lois Cannon and Andrew and Ruth Johnston, along with many aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be held from 5 PM until 7 PM on Monday, January 6, 2025, at the Reiff Family Center – Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence, IA. A Funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, January 7th at Reiff’s. Burial will be held at the Quasqueton Cemetery.
