Cora Flowers
- January 23, 2021
Cora Mae Flowers was born on March 4, 1929, to the late Lawrence and Mary Lou Williamson in St. Louis, MO. Cora’s only brother, Lawrence William Jr. preceded her in death as an infant.
Cora was baptized at an early age due to her Mother being a very spiritual Woman that loved God. In Cora’s later life, she attended and was a member of Our Redeemer Missionary Baptist Church. She also would frequently attend the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall. Cora’s granddaughter, Mary Flowers, would call her a Jehovah Christian.
During Cora’s teenage years, she moved to Cleveland, Ohio to live with her Father. She attended school at Central High in Cleveland. Cora later moved back to St. Louis where she met the love of her life, T.J. Flowers. After dating for a while, they decided to get married. They were united in Holy Matrimony on December 25, 1948, and to that union was born Paul, Theresa, Charles, Larhonda and Vickie.
Cora was a great role model especially when it came to grace and poise. She was a true definition of elegance. Cora loved her children so much and raised them to be strong and independent. She really enjoyed being a home maker. Cooking, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren was her joy! Cora had such a caring soul.
One of Cora’s pleasures that she adored was being able to shop. Buying matching shoes and outfits put an instant smile on her face. She demonstrated how Women can have it all. A Queen that can take care of family, duties and demonstrate what an Ultimate Diva truly is!
Cora leaves to cherish her memory, two sons: Paul and Charles Flowers; three daughters: Theresa Robinson, Larhonda Flowers and Vickie Jones; one Son-in-Law: Kenny Jones Sr.; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren along with a host of family and friends.
