Connie D. Spears

Connie Deloris Spears, 80, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully at the Community Hospice Truman House after a long period of declining health on March 5, 2022.

Born in Tornado, WV on December 13, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Mary Lee (Nicholas) and Orrville Lee Sizemore.

After graduating from New Philadelphia High School in 1959, exactly 50 years prior to her granddaughter Justine’s graduation, she worked with Republic Steel as a lab tech for 25 years. In retirement, she was employed with Horizons.

On May 16, 1970, Connie married her husband of 52 years, Arnold Spears. They greatly enjoyed life together, especially spending time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Connie also had a love for playing BINGO with her sister and reading and watching romance books and movies.

Connie will be deeply missed by her husband, Arnold; her children, Angela (Carl) Bowers and Floyd Jeffrey (Jeanette) Spears; her grandchildren, Cody (Ashley) Kirtley, Alicia Cook, LaTisha (Brittney) Rutherford, Justine (James) Berndt, Courtney Spears, and Brynn (Braden) Hicks; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; siblings, Carol (Walt Davis) Tice, and Sheila Kay Trachsel; and her brother-in-law, Dick Weinhardt.

In addition to her first husband, Dallas Bryant, and her parents, Connie was preceded in death by her siblings Letha Weinhardt, Michael (Nancy) Sizemore, Yvonna “June” Sizemore, Jack Sizemore; and her brother-in-law, Gerry Trachsel.

A service celebrating Connie’s life will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel at New Philadelphia on Thursday, March 10, 2022 beginning at 2:30 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Dover Burial Park.
