Chloe Eloise Hart Ireland
- November 30, 2021
Chloe Hart Ireland died peacefully on November 29 at the Life Care Center of Hendersonville, following a period of declining health. She was 78 years old, although she would not have admitted to that exact number. Born in Vance County, NC to the late Chloe Parrot Hart and Dorsey Fleming Hart Sr., she spent much of her life living in the Piedmont area of North Carolina, before finally realizing her dream of “living in a little house in the NC mountains”.
Chloe relocated to WNC to be near family in 2000 and lived many happy years in that little house in the woods. She took great enjoyment in feeding the many birds, squirrels, chipmunks, racoons, and opossums, as well as the occasional bear, that would frequent the array of bird feeders on her porch.
Chloe learned to crochet in the late 1960’s from mother-in-law Ruth and that set her on a life-long path of creativity. Her daughter Carla was the recipient of many hand-made dolls, crocheted afghans, and hand sewn clothes in childhood. Handmade candles, soaps, piñatas, crocheted purses, and colorful sock monkeys were joyfully shared with friends, family members and others. She made sure staff at the various Advent Health medical offices, that were a frequent part of her later years, had a handmade candle.
Chloe was joyful, fun-loving and always ready to go for a ride in the country. She loved the Christmas lights at Lake Julian and went every year, sometimes more than once. Her house was decorated for every season and holiday and her family and friends looked forward to the yearly Halloween parties she hosted. She was proud of the ribbons won at the NC Mountain State Fair over the years for her crafts, including in 2021 for her Bumblebee piñata. Before her health began to decline, she enjoyed volunteering with the food-pantry at Calvary Episcopal Church.
Chloe was mom, mother-in-law, sister, cousin, aunt, great-aunt and friend and will be missed by those left behind to cherish her memory. She is survived by daughter, Carla Cline; son-in-law, Curt; sisters, Patricia House, and Sophia Jackson; devoted friend and cousin, Brenda Gainey, as well as other dear cousins and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and one little great-great-nephew.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Life Care Center of Hendersonville for the care provided to Chloe in her last month of life. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to support the food-pantry at Calvary Episcopal Church of Fletcher NC. A celebration of life for family and friends will be held at a later date.
