Cheryl Dean Beachler, 97, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024, at The Keystones of Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends from 10 – 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 9, 2024, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa, with a Memorial Service to follow at 11 a.m.

Cheryl was born on May 27, 1926, in Madelia, Minnesota, the daughter of Clifford and Nellie Ester (Moubry) Mather. On July 30, 1948, Cheryl was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” James Beachler in Palo, Iowa. She graduated from the Army Cadet Nurses Corp at Mercy Hospital, during WWII. She followed her husband and his career and practiced in Iowa, Illinois, North Dakota, and California, before spending her last 20 years at St. Luke’s Hospital as Director of Nursing Practice.

She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, a widow/widower group, and a special group called the OWLS (Older Wiser Lively Souls). She was a longtime member of the Hope Lutheran Church. Ma B will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Cheryl is survived and lovingly remembered by her children, Renee (Mario) Lopez of McKinney, Texas, Bill (Marilyn) Beachler of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, James (Mary) Beachler of Cedar Rapids, Richard (Terry) Beachler of Fishers, Indiana, and Lisa Douglas (David Brenner) of Breckenridge, Colo.; 11 grandchildren, Bridgett Starr, Bryan Beachler, Alexa (Jason) Fuller, Bradley (Kacie) Beachler, Nicholas (Danielle) Beachler, Jennifer (TJ) Johnson, Jacob Beachler, Lily Beachler, Benjamin Douglas, Scott (Deidra) Jessen, and Chris Lopez; 16 great-grandchildren, Madison, Drew, Jackson, and Anderson Starr, Parker Schahczenski, Dylen and Lincoln Fuller, Kenneth, Katelyn, Abigail, Lincoln, Steel, Sterling, and Stella Beachler, and James and Bryce Johnson; and brother, Kenneth (Joanne) Mather.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Bob; brothers, Clifford Jr. and Donald Mather; and sister, Delores Peterson.
