Colcord, Oklahoma (formerly of King City, Missouri)…Charles Lester Shipp, age 93, was called home by his Lord and Savior on August 1, 2024. He was born August 2, 1930, in Fairport, Missouri, the son of Lawrence Fredrick and Lovie Laverne (Lile) Shipp.
Charles graduated from Maysville High School in 1947, and then served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Lova on August 12, 1951, at the First Baptist Church in King City, MO., and to this union four children were born. Charles and Lova spent 68 wonderful years together before her passing.
Charles enjoyed getting together with friends to play cards or horseshoes and to tell some of his great stories. He loved music, the Lord and church, his Lova’s cooking, and his beloved family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lova; sister, Helen Mitchell; two grandchildren, Cammie Reed and John Micheal Shipp.
He is survived by his children, Patricia “Patsy” Hartman of Colcord, OK, Robin (Delvon) Hannah of Bolckow, MO, Chuck (Susie) Shipp of Goessel, KS, and Donnie (Anita) Shipp of Ft. Worth, TX; 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and other relatives and a multitude of friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the First Baptist Church in King City, MO, with burial immediately following at the King City Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
