Charles Banks, 80, of Marion, Iowa, formerly of Springville, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at his home. Memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 15, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, with visitation beginning one hour prior to service. Inurnment will take place at Mount Clark Cemetery at a later date.

Charles was born on June 30, 1942, in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Earl and Pauline (Ebert) Banks. He was a graduate of Burlington High School. On June 6, 1961, Charles was united in marriage to Kathleen A. Sink in Spartanburg, S.C. Charles and Kathy co-owned Banks Heating and Cooling, in Springville for 25 years, until they retired in 2000. He was an avid railroad enthusiast, model train collector and amateur woodworker. Charles loved his garden, gospel music and coffee club with his friends. He was a loving husband, father and dog owner. Charles will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Charles is survived and lovingly remembered by his daughters, Pauline Schlatter of Springville, Vickie (Craig) Clinton of Marion, Wendy (Alan) Bries of Central City, Iowa, and Jackie (John) Bohlken of Springville; grandchildren, Felicia Schlatter, Cameron (Beth) Clinton, Cyle (Anna) Clinton, Clarissa (Matt) Millam, Jennifer (Blake) Carpenter, Joe (Desiree) Bries, Matt Bohlken and Mike Bohlken; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Pauline; and wife, Kathleen.
