Carolyn Sue Schlemmer, 80, passed away at her home on Thursday, March 10, 2022.
Carolyn was born on September 8, 1941 in Mansfield, Ohio. She was the daughter of Donald and Maxine (Maxwell) Milligan. Carolyn worked as a nurse’s aid for Hennis Care Center in Bolivar, Ohio. She also worked as a dispatch operator for the Mansfield Police Department. Carolyn served in the United States Navy Reserves. Carolyn and her late husband, Charles, moved and lived in Washington State for 16 years. Carolyn was devoted to her family and greatly enjoyed the time spent together with them as cherished memories. She enjoyed games on her computer such as solitare and caring for her dog, Buddy.
Carolyn is survived by her children, Deby (Roger) Hayes, Mary (Randy) Young, Robert “Bob” (Toni) Moore, and Lisa Iaccarino; her grandchildren, DeAnna Hayes, Travis Moore, Christina (Dammeon) Syroid, Michael Young, Danielle Moore, Dustin Snyder, Bailey Iaccarino, and Nicholas Iaccarino; many great grandchildren; her brothers, Larry (Julia Schreck) Milligan and Lyle (Marty) Milligan; his sister, Brenda VanSant; many nieces and nephews; her bonus children, Clarissa Nelson, Sean Schlemmer, Patrick Schlemmer, Donald Schlemmer, Karen Christ, Patricia Schlemmer, Michael Schlemmer, and Kathleen Schlemmer; many grandchildren; and Gui Alvarenga who she loved as her son.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles K. Schlemmer, whom she married in 2006 and passed away on September 9, 2020; her adoptive parents, Cecil (Inez) Bender; her siblings, Patty VanSant, Peggy VanSant, Richard VanSant, Barbara Whitcomb, Danny “Jimmy” VanSant, Charles VanSant, Ron Bender, and Nancy Venis.
Carolyn will be laid to rest in Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is honored to serve the family.
