Carolyn “Joyce” Ridenour, 84, passed away with her beloved daughters by her side on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Living Center West, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Rosary will begin at 3:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at the Funeral Home by Deacon Ken Bauer. Luncheon will follow Mass with private burial.

Joyce was born July 16, 1940, in Iowa City, Iowa, daughter to Darrell and Mabel (Smith) Woods. Joyce graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1958 and was united in marriage to Jerry “Ace” Ridenour on October 26, 1963, in Cedar Rapids. Joyce worked at Rockwell Collins for 35 years as an assembly inspector until her retirement.

Joyce was a devoted member to St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed bowling, gambling, bingo, going to concerts, dancing, and watching movies. Joyce was also quite the cook, she was known for her famous vegetable beef soup. She loved spending time with her family, especially helping get her grandkids to school activities and watching their games and other extracurricular activities.

She also was a member of IBEW and volunteered delivering Bibles for memorial services for members.

Joyce is survived by her children, Robin (Brian) Odean, and Tara (John Dornbush) Walker; grandchildren, Leah (Ben) Grief, Riley Odean, Klein Walker, and Karlee (Jake Voss) Walker, great-grandchildren, Margot Hopfensperger and Adalynd Greif; and several nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jerry “Ace” Ridenour; and siblings, Rita Neitderhisar, Ivan Woods, Darla Blair, and Marvin Woods.

Memorials may be made to the family.
