Carolyn J. Edison, at the age of 86, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on September 22, 2023.
Carolyn was born on March 22, 1937, to the late Peter J. and M. Regina (Donahue) Finnerty of Rhode Island.
Carolyn Edison was a resident of Akron, OH for over 50 years and worked for St. Thomas Hospital/Summa Hospital for over 20 years before retiring in 2004. She then was asked to come out of retirement to work for The Cleveland Clinic and subsequently Summa Barberton Hospital’s OR before retiring a second time. Carolyn’s passion for reading and profound respect for books led her to volunteer for several years as A Friend of The Maple Valley Library. Carolyn also was an avid basketball fan who never missed a game that LeBron James played no matter the team or a Maryland Terrapins and Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons women’s basketball game. Her greatest pastime was spending time with her grandchildren.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband Charles F. Edison her brothers Raymond, Leonard J., Robert J., Edward, J. Paul, Richard, Dennis, and James Finnerty.
Carolyn is survived by brother Peter (Clare) Finnerty and sister Sheila M. Cabral; four Children: son Jerome (Joyce) Tellier of Seattle WA, and daughters Jennifer (Jeffrey) Lavigne of Seattle WA, and Bridget and Megan Edison of Akron, OH; six grandchildren: Sarah Tellier, Seth (Amanda) Tellier, Ja’Cory (Deanmaryse) Edison, Chanel Jackson, Jordan, and Gerald Round; seven great-grandchildren: Kymara Jackson, Rashad and Chase Davis, Elijah and Demri Tellier, JeInievieve Edison, and Aurora Rose; and a host of nieces, nephews, and her extended family and friends.
