Carol Ann Smith Weaver

Carol Weaver passed away at home on January 26, 2022 in Hendersonville, North Carolina after a period of failing health. Carol was born on Staten Island, New York, the middle child of George William and Zelmarie Garrod Smith. A resident of North Carolina since 2004, she lived many places throughout her life, including Medford, New Jersey, Delaware, Texas and Pennsylvania.
Carol attended the High School of Performing Arts in Manhattan and studied Economics at Franklin College, graduating in 1970 with a Bachelor’s Degree. She worked in the insurance industry for over thirty years, retiring in 2004 as an Executive with Ace Insurance.
Carol was an active member of the Henderson County League of Women Voters and also volunteered her time as an Editor of various community newsletters. Carol was a Master Gardener, devoted yogi, prolific reader, birder, bone marrow donor and dog lover. She was also a lifelong fan of rock & roll, most notably the Beatles, Rolling Stones, and Grateful Dead, the latter of which she saw live in concert too many times to count.
Carol is survived by her husband of 41 years, John Weaver; her children Brian Weaver (Cynthia) of Brooklyn, New York, Nicole Lajoie of Raymond, Maine, and Kristen Dardani (Daniel) of Melrose, Massachusetts; her grandchildren Ryan (Ashley), Connor, William, Lillian, Noelle and Oslo; her brother Charles Smith; her Sheltie Sunny; her niece Kelley Smith and nephew Timothy Smith; her sister-in-law Evelyn Smith; along with many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Richard Smith. Her family will memorialize her life privately.
