Carl Jay Follin

Carl Jay Follin, 80, of Springfield, died at 10:49 pm, Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born January 4, 1943 in Tacoma, WA, the son of Howard and Opal (Harris) Follin. He married Patricia “Jean” Neal in Nashville, TN on August 1, 1964.

Surviving are his wife Jean; two children, Dawn (Steve) Ogden of Springfield and Clayton (Angela) Follin of Normal; three grandchildren, Andrew (Katie) Ogden, Zane (Emily) Ogden and Lilyana Follin; two great grandchildren, Amber and Jade Ogden; one brother, John (Maggie) Follin of Las Cruses, NM; one aunt, Ruth Sanford of Tacoma, WA and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Beverly Parrish and one niece, Carrie Carlton.

Carl was a United States Air Force veteran serving from 1962-66 as a medic.

Carl loved to sing and belonged to the Land of Lincoln Chorus, Route 66 Quartet, and other various quartets. He was a member of the Hoogland Center of the Arts and Springfield Landlord Association.

He has been a resident of Springfield since 1975. He was the owner of Best Choice Properties since 1999 and owner and operator of Hot Tips Accessories.

Memorial Gathering: 4:00 – 6:00 pm, Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Memorial Service: 6:00 pm, Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to Land of Lincoln Chorus, Sound Celebration Chorus, or Hoogland Center of the Arts.
