Carl Edward Holbert

Carl Edward Holbert, 58, of Hendersonville, received the ultimate trophy on Monday, March 22, 2021.
That trophy came in the form of the most perfect angel wings, brought by the very angels who
accompanied him home to God’s heavenly kingdom.

By definition, the word “special” means “better, greater, or otherwise different from what is usual.”
Carl was all of those things and so much more. And our lives have been better, greater, and otherwise
blessed to be different from what is usual, because of Carl. “And I’d choose you; in a hundred lifetimes, in a hundred worlds, in any version of reality, I’d find you and I’d choose you all over again.” – Kiersten White.

Carl was born on May 24, 1962, in Henderson County, NC, to parents James “Jim” and Myrtle M. Holbert.
He was a graduate of Hendersonville High School and was employed by Vocational Solutions. Carl loved
baseball, almost as much as he loved those he played with. Through his love of the game, Carl was an
honorary member of the Smoke Travel, East Henderson High School, and Hendersonville High School
Baseball teams. He was also a member of the Mountain Bowlers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Billy Mullis, Michael Holbert, and Curtis
Holbert. Left to cherish his memory, are his brother Jeff Holbert, and his wife Sarah, who he made his
home with; five nephews, Jeffrey, Greg, Steve and Brian Holbert, and Brian Patterson; four nieces, Lisa
Schillig, Leslie Freeman, Angie Holbert, and Stacy Mullis; and sister-in-law, Sheila Holbert.

The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Lateef Abumoussa and the wonderful ICU nurses at
Margaret R. Pardee Memorial Hospital.

Visitation will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Thursday, March 25 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A
graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Friday, March 26 at 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers are
Jordan Holbert, Max and Gus Schillig, Devin Walker, Brayden Corn, and Brock Ramey. Skip Gibson will
present the eulogy.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Carl’s memory to, Vocational Solutions, 2110 Spartanburg
Highway, East Flat Rock, NC 28726.
