Burdella (Burdie) Elaine Sheehan, 87, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2024, at Terrace Glen Village in Marion, Iowa. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024, at Murdoch Funeral Home in Marion at 2:00 PM with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion.
Burdella was born on July 1, 1937, in Larimore, ND to Walter and Bertha (Bjorklund) Marien. She had two brothers, Wallace and Roger. She graduated from Falls High School in International Falls, Minnesota.
On June 29, 1957, Burdella married the love of her life, John (Barney) Sheehan, they were married for 66 years. Together they had four children: Tim (Rhonda) Sheehan, Tom (Brenda) Sheehan, Cindy Lombardo, and Jim Sheehan.
Burdie and Barney enjoyed traveling, especially cruises. She also loved spending time with family, cooking and baking (especially for the holidays), watching Hallmark movies, and antique shopping/collecting for jewelry and glassware.
Burdie loved being a mother, and she also cherished being a Grandma to her eight grandchildren: Jessie Sheehan, Rachel (Aaron) Jarr, Matt Sheehan, Abby (Tyler) Veenstra, Dominick Lombardo, Katie Lombardo, Brady Sheehan, Makenna Sheehan; and Great-Grandma to her 4 great-grandchildren: Kennedy Jarr, Charlotte Jarr, Aiden Veenstra and Alyssa Veenstra.
Burdella was preceded in death by her husband John, her parents, brother Wallace Marien, and her grandson, Brady Sheehan.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, JDRF.
A special thanks to the caring staff at Terrace Glen Village for taking such good care of our Mom the past 4+ years.
