Brian Malone, 70, of Winterset, formerly of Manchester, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 19, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Manchester, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 20, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester, with an additional visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Masonville, Iowa. Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Manchester is in charge of arrangements.
Brian was born on Sept. 13, 1952, in Manchester, Iowa, the son of Bernard and Elda (Kenna) Malone. He graduated in 1970, from Starmont High School and went on to Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa. He worked for John Deere, DTN/ Progressive Farmer and retired from Wells Fargo. Brian loved to be outdoors, especially loved trout fishing with his son Nicholas. He was an avid shooter and belonged to the Izaak Walton League in Newton, Iowa. Brian owned Sport Disc Pro Shop and was instrumental in introducing Disc Golf around the state. He was inducted into the Iowa Disc Golf Hall of Fame in 2016.
Brian is survived by his son, Nicholas Malone of Silver Spring, Md.; and his siblings, Carolyn (Roy) Reicks of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Stuart (Elaine) Malone of Earlham, Iowa, and Steven (Tina) Malone of Winthrop, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Elda Malone; and nephew, Benjamin Malone.
