Brenda Kay Althouse, 78, of New Philadelphia, passed away Friday, October 8, 2021, in Amberwood Manor at New Philadelphia, following a period of declining health.
Born in Bannock, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Charles R. and Faye Irene (Piper) Scott and had retired from the bakery department at Giant Eagle in Dover. Better known as “Aunt Beanie”, she loved caring for her immaculate yard and garden, enjoyed doing counted cross stitch projects and playing with her beloved shelties, Casey, Ginger and Buddy.
Surviving are three sisters, Claudetta (Robert) Waggle of Bannock, Victoria (David) Meese of Gahanna and Sandra Gustkey of Dover; nieces and nephews, Kelly (Danny) Hettinger of Columbus, Thad (Beth) Meese of Hudson, Robbie (Della) Waggle of Bannock and Jamie (Sharon) Gustkey of Dover; great nieces and nephews, Gram Hettinger, Julia and Hanna Meese, Josh and Jessie Waggle, Lydia Gustkey and her best friend, Carla Riley of Daytona Beach, Florida.
In addition to her parents, Aunt Beanie was also preceded in death by her husband Ron Althouse, her brother, Charles “Bo” Scott and her sister Judy Lucas.
In keeping with her wishes, “Aunt Beanie” is to be buried alongside of her parents, during a private service, in Union Cemetery at St. Clairsville. The Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia is handling the arrangements.
