Bonnie L. Wetherell, 91, of Springfield, passed away at 8:30 am, Sunday, October 31, 2021 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. She was born on April 2, 1930 in Polo, MO, the daughter of Hubert and Luettice (Jackson) Bowles. She married Thomas N. Wetherell on February 19, 1955 and they were married for 63 years before he preceded her in death on June 24, 2016.
Also preceding her in death are her parents, one sister, Shirley Sales, and one brother, Karl Bowles.
Bonnie is survived by one daughter, Julie (Bruce) Wallbaum of Jacksonville; three sons, Mark (Dagmar), Milt (Tricia) and Matt (Rebecca) Wetherell, all of Springfield; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was a resident of Springfield since 1986 and previously a resident of Jacksonville, IL, Seattle, WA and Montana.
Bonnie was the Owner/Operator of Big R in Springfield, Taylorville, and Lincoln and was a devoted member of Springfield Southern Baptist Church. She was an avid organist and pianist. She volunteered playing at several local churches and played piano for Roanoke Baptist Church for a few years.
Visitation: 2 – 4 pm, Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Funeral Service: 12:30 pm, Monday, November 8, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield, with Rev. Dr. Michael Keppler officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Springfield Southern Baptist Church.
