Bobbye Kay Shaheen
Hiawatha
Bobbye Shaheen, 72, of Hiawatha, IA, passed away from cancer on April 10, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones.
Bobbye was born on March 20, 1952, to Robert and Jennie Kingsbury in Cedar Rapids, IA.
Bobbye worked at Collins Aerospace for 29 years until her retirement in 2018. She formed many friends during her time at Collins, and loved to share stories and memories of the time she spent there.
Bobbye loved gardening, spending time outside, and watching crime shows. She was happiest when surrounded by her family and her dogs, Sox, Copper, Lucky, Bailey, and Izzy.
Bobbye’s survivors include her children, Blossom Howard (Derek Roettger) of Cedar Rapids, Dallas Howard (Hayley) of Polo, MO, John Howard (Jessica) of Kingston, MO, David Howard (Robin Swenka) of Marion, and Jeffrey Howard of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Jerry “Bear”, Christopher, Calli, Matthew, Emma, and Alayna; her sister, Sheron Howe (Jim) of Florissant, MO; and her great-grandchildren, Greyson, Charlotte, Athena, Christopher, and Anthony.
Bobbye was preceded in death by her mother, Jennie; her father, Robert; her siblings, Mary, Tommi, and Mike; and her husband, Thomas.
Those who knew Bobbye knew she hated being fussed over, and knew she would rather give than receive. She asked that her remains be scattered in some of her favorite places in a private ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that the people who cared about Bobbye take a moment to pause and appreciate the time they have with those who matter most. Spend time with family, take your dog for a walk, or reach out to an old friend. Nothing would have made Bobbye happier.
