Billy Ray Lewis, 80, of Glen Rose passed away on Monday, April 18, 2022. Graveside service: 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 21, 2022, White Church Cemetery, Visitation: 11:30 AM -1:30 PM, Thursday, April 21, 2022, Wiley Funeral Home, Glen Rose.
Billy was born on August 17, 1941, in Paris, Texas to Willie Nelson “Bill” Lewis and Opal Beatrice Golden. He married Sandra Sheppard Loven on February 14, 1979. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
Billy worked for General Motors, Tarrant Baptist Camp and the Nuclear Power Plant for many years. He also worked for the Glen Rose Medical Center as the Director of Maintenance for several years.
Billy loved to sing the Lord’s music. He served as music director and deacon at Rainbow Baptist Church, New Prospect Baptist Church and Cedar Point Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents: Willie Nelson “Bill” Lewis and Opal Beatrice Golden, grandparents: William “Bill” Jefferson Golden and Clara Lee Southerland Golden and his grandson: Harley Sinclair.
Billy is survived by his loving wife: Sandra Sheppard Lewis of Glen Rose, children: Angie and her husband Bill Sinclair, Andy Lewis, Amy and her husband Jay Wright, Allison and her husband Rory Nowak, Billy Jack and his wife Lynn Lewis, Trachelle and her husband Daren Extine and Dean Loven, 12 grandchildren: Craig, Sam, JL, Jake, Dustin, Eric, RJ, Hayley, Shelby, Jack, Taylor, and Devan, 14 great-grandchildren, and sisters: Judy Prescott, Elizabeth Ann Mitchell and her husband Doug.
