Betty Ann Jensen, 94, of Iowa City, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024, at Lone Tree Health Care Center. A visitation will be held from 9-11 AM, Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. A funeral service will follow at 11 AM at the funeral home. The burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Camp Courageous or The Bird House: Hospice Home of Johnson County.
Betty was born on Aug. 19, 1929, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of John and Hilda (Unash) Schintler. She graduated from University High School and was very involved in farming with her parents near Oxford. Betty was united in marriage to Robert Jensen on Aug. 26, 1950; he preceded her in death on Aug. 30, 2017. She worked for Sears in their receiving department for 17 years before retiring in 1991. Betty loved taking her family out west for vacations, and after retirement her favorite vacations included Hawaii and Myrtle Beach. She loved to garden and especially loved her flowers. Betty loved to square dance, watch birds, and fish.
Betty is survived by her two children, Randy (Eleni) Jensen of Iowa City, and Julie (Duane) Brun of Lone Tree; five grandchildren, Cassandra (Mike), Heather, Matthew (Stephanie), Alex (Zoey) and Austin; step-grandson, Ted (Dimitra); three great grandchildren, Aiden, Norah, and Ben; three step-great grandchild, Adam, Gus, Christo ; three siblings, James (Brenda) Schintler, Ronald Schintler, Richard (Barbara) Schintler; and many extended family.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; Husband, Bob Jensen; two sons, Thomas and Jerald Jensen; three siblings, Ruth Karlovsky, Marie Gorski, and Jack Schintler; and beloved dog, Bailey.
