Berta M. Elkins

Berta M. Elkins, 84, of Mansfield, passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at Crystal Care Center in Mansfield.
She was born September 10, 1937, in Grahn, Kentucky, to the late Beulah V. (Williams) and James Edward Nolen. Berta lived in Mansfield for over 42 years, relocating to North Carolina, and recently returning to Mansfield. On July 2, 1956, she married Ronald Elkins. She loved traveling and camping. Berta was an exceptional cook who made the best biscuits and gravy, apple fritters and apple butter. She had a garden and canned many items in her younger years. Berta enjoyed sewing, scrapbooking, crocheting and adult coloring books. She was a long time member of Dean Road Freewill Baptist Church.
She is survived by four children, Robin (Clyde) Clevenger, Ronnie Elkins, Kenney Elkins, and Kathy (Thad) Cetinich; eight grandchildren, Crystal Adams, Amber Skaggs, Shannon Skaggs, Ashley Cerha, Tiffany Elkins, Cody Reeder, Brianna Wengerd and Nate Somerlot; and eleven great-grandchildren, Morgan, Mason, Ashtin, Addyson, Willa, Jayce, Jayven, Hunter, Kyler, Alliana and Remy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Elkins on September 3, 2017.
A private service will be held for the family. She will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park beside her husband. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
