Bernice Mae Jordan, 98, of the Alburnett area, passed away at her home on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. Per her request, Bernice was cremated. Celebration of life will be held in July. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Central City is assisting the family.

Bernice was born on July 12, 1925, in Troy Mills, Iowa, the daughter of John Weasley and Lois Viola (Sauer) Peyton. She graduated from Troy Mills High School. On June 20, 1942, Bernice married the love of her life, Donald Wayne Jordan, in Anamosa, Iowa. She was a great wife and mother of three children. Bernice loved taking care of her flowers, gardening, fishing, camping, and watching RFD. She was a member of the Troy Mills American Legion Auxiliary and the Red Hat Society. Bernice will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Bernice is survived and lovingly remembered by her son, Gale (Patricia) Jordan of Central City; grandchildren, Todd (Heather) Pentico, Brian Schrim, Tricia (Kevin) Redig, Sarah (Jeffrey) Werling, and Trent (Amanda) Jordan; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Darlene Wright of Coggon, Iowa, and Frieda Daubenberger of Cape Coral, Florida; brother, D Peyton of Lamesa, Texas; sons-in-law, Carl Pentico, and Lindy (Teresa McQuillen) Schirm; and many additional family members and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; daughters, Teresa Schirm, and Jeanette Pentico; granddaughter, Lisa Riess; and brother, John “Jack” Peyton.

Memorials in Bernice’s memory may be directed to American Legion Posts in Troy Mills and Marion.
