Bernadine June Steil

Bernadine June Steil, 81, of Springfield died at 11:10 am, Monday, February 1, 2021 at The Christian Village in Lincoln, IL. She was born on June 9, 1939 in Springfield, IL to Bernard and Ruth (Jones) Grady. She married Allen E. Steil on June 1, 1963 and he preceded her in death on May 14, 1994.

She is survived by two daughters, Wanda Turley (Donnie Wilham) of Edinburg, IL and Stephanie Ray of Springfield; four grandchildren, James (Beth) Turley, Johanna (Jesse) Shonkwiler, Makenzie Turley and Bradley Ray; six great grandchildren, Zachary, Elizabeth, Huck, Wyatt, Josie and Waylon and several cousins.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Kimberly (Joseph) Johnson and son-in-law, Edward E. Turley.

Bernadine worked at Sikkings as a bookkeeper for 8 years, was the owner of A&B Ceramics for 15 years and worked as Activities Director for the Dirksen House.

She was a member of New Life Baptist Church and Eagles Auxiliary #437. She was very involved in Church activities and organizations. She enjoyed camping, crafts and dogs.

Visitation: 11:30 am – 12:30 pm, Monday, February 8, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 12:30 pm, Monday, February 8, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Pastor Milton Crain officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.

CDC Protocol shall be followed.
