Benjamin Lee Jeffords, 86, of Cedar Rapids, died from complications of Rheumatoid Arthritis and Dementia at Heritage Specialty Care on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. Services: 11 a.m., Friday, December 27, 2024, at Teahen Funeral Home by Penny Ackerman. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion. Friends may visit with the family on Friday after 10 a.m., at the funeral home.

Ben is survived by his wife, Pat; son, Kirk (Jeanne) Jeffords of Cedar Rapids; daughters, Kerri (Mark) Stevens of Alburnett and Jennifer McShane of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Ivy Jeffords, Ian Jeffords, Brody McShane, Candace Kimm, Sharaya (Bob) Peck; great-grandchildren, Alexa Mumma, Lincoln, Sullivan and Hazel Peck, Oliver and Isabelle Jeffords, and Finnian McShane; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Rollie Jeffords.

Ben was born on October 18, 1938 in Iowa City, the son of Floyd and Dorothy Miner Jeffords. He graduated

from Wilson High School in 1957, Cedar Rapids and the National Institute of Graphic Arts, Nashville, TN in 1960. On March 19, 1960, Ben married Patricia Arlene Drake in Cedar Rapids. He worked as a Lithographer at Collins Radio/Rockwell Collins for 34 years, retiring in 1995.

Ben was an avid sports fan and particularly loved the Cedar Rapids Kernels, Iowa Hawkeyes, and Chicago Cubs. He enjoyed playing 16-inch slow-pitch softball, bowled, and fished. Most of all, Ben loved spending time with his family, who loved him beyond measure and whom he loved deeply.

Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
